Fall Porch – Neutral Theme, White Pumpkins & Corn Stalks

I’m so excited about our Fall porch! This might be the last of the fall posts that you’ll be seeing this year. If you follow on Instagram, then you know that all I can think about right now is Christmas. But, I’m excited for this weekend and all the little trick or treaters. Last year, our neighborhood was still new with only a few houses so we got very little traffic. However, this year the neighborhood has tripled in size and I’m thinking we will get a lot more. Even more exciting, both Joe and I will be home this year (usually I’m working) to pass out candy. I can’t wait!

I had started decorating our porch a couple weeks ago, but felt like I just couldn’t get it right. Bringing my Joss & Main bench outside added some interest and height to the space. Before everything was on the ground, and I knew levels would be best. Levels are the secret to great styling! By the way, this bench is also available at Target. Joe and I agreed that it’s found a new home out here on the porch. Besides, it wasn’t going to fit in our dining room anymore with the new design.

I made this welcome sign from of an old fence board. I used some left over stain, stencils from Target, and some craft paint I already had. Yay for free projects! By the way can you believe we have a red front door? With my love for neutrals, this is a surprise. I always wanted a house with a red front door and luckily it was offered by the builder. The stucco color is a peachy tan, but Joe and I have been longing for a gray house with navy & white accents.  Sadly, now the builders have expanded their exterior colors and there is an option now for a gray house with a red front door. Bummer.

This little pallet wood pumpkin is from my friend Kelly at Art By Kelly. Honestly, its what inspired me to complete this porch make over, it arrived in the mail and I knew I had to do it justice. So much texture – wood pumpkin, burlap pumpkin, twig pumpkin (that lights up) and a white pumpkin from Michael’s.

More texture – metal, glass, wood, birch, and a natural element from the corn. The corn was grown in Joe’s garden and I had him save me a few of the dead ones. Hopefully, he will grow me some every year! The lanterns are from Marshall’s a few summers ago, and are very similar to the ones from Pottery Barn.

I didn’t want to decorate scary for Halloween and going more neutral will allow me to leave it up till mid November until the Christmas decor takes over. This chalkboard is from Target Dollar Spot and works perfectly. After Halloween, I will change it to say “give thanks” or “happy fall”.

I have been thinking about adding a pillow or two to the bench, however it’s hard to find outdoor pillows this time of year. I have a few that I picked up from the Target Dollar Spot, so maybe I’ll add those later. Be sure to follow along on Instagram to see!
